Celtics, Lakers set for possible top pick showdown to open Las Vegas Summer League

BOSTON -- The Celtics will open up the Las Vegas portion of their Summer League schedule against the Lakers on July 8.
 
If all goes as expected, it will feature the two storied franchises being led by the No. 1 and 2 overall picks in the June 22 draft.
 
All indications are that the Celtics will take Washington’s Markelle Fultz with the top pick while the Lakers are expected to select UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball.
 
The July 8 game will be at 8:30 p.m. EST at the Thomas & Mack Arena located on the University of Las Vegas campus.
 
Boston will play the following night against Portland at the Thomas & Mack arena and it will also have a 8:30 p.m. start. They finish off the three-game slate against Philadelphia at the Thomas & Mack arena with an early 6:30 p.m. EST start.
 
Teams play three games July 7-11 before they are seeded in a tournament style format which begins July 12, with a champion crowned Monday, July 17. The format allows for each team to play at least five games.
 
For the Celtics, they will head to Las Vegas after playing three games in the Salt Lake City summer league which runs July 3-6.
 
Boston’s Summer League schedule in Salt Lake City begins on July 3 against Philadelphia at 7 p.m. EST (Live on CSN), followed by games against San Antonio on July 5 at 7 p.m. EST (LIVE on CSN), and concludes on July 6 against Utah at 9 p.m. EST (LIVE on CSN).
