Christmas: ‘Thanks to the Celtics for the opportunity'

BOSTON -- Dionte Christmas turned down opportunities to play overseas for a chance to make the Boston Celtics this season. On Tuesday, the 6-5 guard was waived prior to the C's preseason game against the New Jersey Nets.

Christmas, 26, appreciated his chance to play for the title contenders, which included a team-bonding trip overseas to Turkey and Italy.

"Thanks to the Celtics for the opportunity, I really appreciate it," he told CSNNE.com via text message. "Thanks to the fans that were behind me through my ride with the C's."

Christmas average 3.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in four preseason games. He signed a partially guaranteed contract with the Celtics following standout Summer League performances in Orlando and Las Vegas.

Im just not going to stop here, he told CSNNE.com after signing his deal in July . This is definitely just the beginning. The door is halfway open. Ive just got to kick it all the way open.
