Could Celtics win vs. Warriors help attract free agents?

The short-term impact of the Celtics’ win over the Warriors is a confidence boost for both the players and the fans. But the long-term impact could potentially lead to an increased opportunity at elite free agents.

“Winning the bulk of these games will position them to not only have a high playoff seed,” CSNNE’s Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely said, “but also positions them to have really opportunities for potential free agents to see them play against the upper echelon team.”

So, imagine that you're Kevin Durant. You’ve lost 6 of your last 7 games against the Warriors. And you’re home watching the Celtics snap Golden State’s historic 54-game home win streak.

He's got to be at least a bit intrigued, right? Especially since, if you read between the lines, you already know Durant has genuine interest in the Celtics franchise.

“If you’re a big-time free agent like a Kevin Durant, at the very least your interest is piqued by seeing the Celtics making a deep playoff run without that bona fide superstar player,” Blakely added.

There’s no guarantee the Celtics make any impactful moves this summer. Durant might be nothing more than a dream. But it’s not crazy to say performances like last night's will cause ripples throughout the NBA, which could lead to the Celtics doing something special this offseason.
