The Isaiah Thomas brushfire has been put out by IT himself. And his coach said he was never alarmed.
Thomas on Wednesday blamed his harsh postgame comments about coach Brad Stevens and his Celtics teammates on frustration, said he "didn't mean to throw anybody under the bus" and he "needs to do a better job calming down after tough games."
"It happens," Thomas told reporters at the Celtics shoot-around at the University of San Francisco ahead of Boston's game tonight in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors. "I didn't mean to throw anybody under the bus. My job is just to move on and do my job and don't make it a distraction, because it's not."
Thomas added: "I gotta do a better job of calming down after tough games, tough losses. I'm always going to be me. And that's the only way I know how. Like I said to Brad, I'm not here to throw anybody under the bus because I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. That's just how I felt at the time. Yes, I have to do a better job of it and I know that. I'm here to be Isaiah Thomas and lead and win games. And I know if we win, that wouldn't have even been a problem."
Stevens, meanwhile, reiterated comments he made a day earlier to CSN's Brian Scalabrine (see video above) when he told 98.5 The Sports Hub's "Zolak and Bertrand Show" that he didn't "lose a lot of sleep over" what Thomas said.

Stevens said Thomas sent him a long text following the C's leading scorer's postgame comments after the loss to the Clippers, in which Thomas sounded miffed about his playing time in the fourth quarter.
“I didn’t really put much thought into it. I didn’t even really register it until it became more of a talking point in the media and it was brought to my attention,” Stevens said. “Soon thereafter I got a long text from Isaiah...When you get interviewed right after a tough loss or even when you get interviewed right after an emotional win, sometimes the emotions speak. And so, I understand there’s frustration, I don’t lose a lot of sleep over it.”
