Isaiah Thomas will return to Celtics lineup Friday vs. Hornets

BOSTON – He’s back!

Isaiah Thomas said he will be in the Boston Celtics’ lineup on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets “for sure.”

“I’ll be suited and booted tomorrow,” Thomas said on Thursday at a holiday event to aid families affected by the Cambridge fires earlier this month. “Hopefully I can help my team get a win.”

The 5-foot-9 guard suffered a right groin injury on Dec. 5 at Houston which has kept him out of action for the last four games, three of which resulted in a Celtics loss.

“It’s been very tough because I know there are areas in which I can help them,” Thomas said. “The fourth quarter is where I kind of do a lot of positive things and help my team in that area. It’s been frustrating but at the same time we have to have a short memory and keep going, keep grinding and hopefully we can protect home court tomorrow and get a string of wins with this road trip we got coming up.”

Thomas, who was named to his first All-Star team last season, leads the Celtics in scoring and assists with 26.0 and 6.2, respectively.
