Looking at when the Celtics and Cavaliers will play this year

Following the blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, here's a look at when the two teams will play this year. The two teams won't have to wait long.

1. October 17, 2017 (Game 1): The two teams are set to square off in the NBA season-opener. So if Thomas' hip is healthy, the superstars' debuts will be against their former teams. It'll be the perfect grudge match.

2. January 3, 2018 (Game 41): Not only will Irving and the Celtics' open up their 2017-18 season against Thomas and the Cavaliers, but Boston will play its first game of the calendar year 2018 against the Cavaliers. If Thomas can't play at season's start, then this may be his first chance to square off against his former team.

3. February 11, 2018 (Game 58): The Celtics will retire Paul Pierce's jersey before this game. This matchup will be the final contest between the two teams in the regular season.

4. The Eastern Conference Finals? Too soon? Well, we're all thinking it.
