Report: Chances of ‘Melo being traded to Celtics ‘increasing'

The New York Post reported Friday that the chances of Carmelo Anthony being traded from the Knicks to the Celtics are "increasing" in light of the C's struggles in their first-round playoff series against Chicago.

The Post quoted an NBA source as saying the Celtics coaching staff was in favor of acquiring Anthony at the trade deadline, but that Danny Ainge "had too many reservations". However, the Celts' first two losses to the Bulls demonstrate their need for a scorer like 'Melo, and the Post said Ainge's feelings on the matter "could change".

The Post also reported the Celtics wouldn't necessarily have to surrender the Nets' No. 1 pick, which could be the No. 1 overall pick, in a deal for Anthony. The paper said it "has learned" the Knicks' focus in a trade would be Jae Crowder.
