Stars, studs and duds: Celtics bench has to be better in Game 7

WASHINGTON – Here are the Stars, Studs and Duds from Boston’s 92-91 Game 6 loss to the Washington Wizards

STARS

John Wall

After a horrific first half shooting the ball, Wall bounced back with a strong second half that included the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds to play. He finished with 26 points and eight assists.

Avery Bradley

He was strong all game long, finishing with 27 points on an efficient 10-for-18 shooting and four steals. As good as he played, it’ll be the one defensive stop he didn’t get against Wall at the very end of the game.

Bradley Beal

He was a steady stream of scoring for the Wizards all game long, finishing with a game-high 33 points on 15-for-26 shooting.

STUDS

Al Horford

The Celtics didn’t run as much offense through Horford in Game 6, which took away to some degree his usually high assists numbers. He still finished with a strong game, tallying 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting with six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot.

Markieff Morris

His inside-outside play was one of the keys to the Wizards finding ways to stay within striking distance before Wall put them over the hump. Morris had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.

DUDS

Celtics bench

They’re not expected to generate a bunch of points, but they have to be better than what we saw in Game 6. Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier were a combined 0-for-11 shooting with all three players passing up several wide open looks and lay-ups.

Otto Porter Jr.

The Wizards love the work he puts in on the boards (he had seven rebounds), but this was the first game in this series where he was a non-factor in terms of scoring the ball. He was scoreless on the night, missing all five of his shots from the field.
