Stevens: ‘Biggest thing is playing with aggression and spirit'

BOSTON - Having trouble figuring out the infinite playoff scenarios for the Celtics?

You aren't alone.

The NBA released the playoff scenarios before tonight's slate of final games. It's a bit confusing, but they do a good job of explaining it.

The Celtics will be the No. 4 seed if they win and the Hawks (who play Washington) lose.

They'll be the No. 5 seed if they lose and the Hornets (who play Orlando) lose or if they win and the Hawks lose.

They'll be the No. 6 seed if the Hornets win and the Celtics lose.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens needed some time to wrap his head around just what needed to happen in order for his team to finish the No. 4, No. 5, or No. 6 seed.

"I think no matter what, we could win and not finish with homecourt advantage, we could win and finish with homecourt advantage," Stevens said. "The biggest thing is playing with the aggression and spirit we’ve played with in the past that has got us to this point. We didn’t play with that on Monday, so that’s really been my focus. All these scenarios and stuff – man, I really can’t keep up with it."

Seeding aside, a win Wednesday night is important for the Celtics to go into the playoffs on a good note rather than a three-game losing streak, all at the hands of Eastern Conference playoff teams.
