Wizards break game open with 22-0 run in first quarter

The Celtics are used to early-game holes in their series with the Wizards, as they came back from 16-0 in Game 1 and 42-29 in Game 2. 

They outdid themselves in the first quarter of Game 3. 

After the C’s allowed Washington to take an early lead, Washington went on a 22-0 run. Twenty-two. 

The score had been tied at 12 apiece prior to the run, with Boston going over five minutes before Isaiah Thomas sank the second of two free throws to get the Celtics back on the board. The C’s went over six minutes without a field goal before Marcus Smart scored with 17 seconds remaining in the first quarter. 

The Wizards finished the first with a 39-17 lead.
