What prompted Curry-Brown exchange? It's a mystery to Celtics rookie

OAKLAND, Calif. – Jaylen Brown is pretty smart kid.

We all know this.

So to see Stephen Curry, defended by Brown, drain a 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter and start chirping at Brown afterward in what seemed like a response to something Brown had said...drawing the ire of the two-time MVP on his home floor didn’t look like a very smart thing to do to.

After the game, I asked Brown about that exchange.

“He just hit a shot,” Brown told CSNNE.com. “I didn’t say anything to him at all. He hit a good shot. I was playing good defense until I jumped on the head fake. But I didn’t say a word. I don’t know what it was.

Brown added, “I didn’t say anything to him; I didn’t open my mouth. He hit a good shot; it was cute. Let’s keep playing basketball.”

When told about the exchange, Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas initially thought that Brown might have said something that prompted Curry’s finger-pointing response following his shot going down, only to be told that Brown denied he said anything to Curry.

“I don’t know; I don’t know,” Thomas said. “They don’t do that when Avery [Bradley] guards them; I know that.”

Ouch!
