Beckett: ‘I can deal with' being Sox' scapegoat

Josh Beckett says he's fine taking the brunt of the criticism for the Red Sox' slow start because "I can deal with it . . . I would rather it happen to me than somebody else, one of our guys who plays every day."

Beckett, in a wide-ranging interview with WEEI.com's Rob Bradford, also said that perception of the Sox being a team in disarray is completely false.

"It seems like everybody wants to just create problems for us because we have a really good group of guys and we all get along, but thats not how its perceived," he told Bradford. "This team is as tight a group as Ive ever been a part of. We had some tight groups when I was in Florida and weve had some tight groups here. As far as a whole team, in terms of hanging out, chilling, and everybody jokes with one another, this is a good a group as Ive been around."

When asked if he still feels good about being a member of the Red Sox, Beckett responded: "It sucks because it seems nobody else wants you here except for your teammates. What are you supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to go home and pout and take that home with me. That aint happening. Thats not me. Like I said, if I wanted to be part a reality show I would go to LA. Im not into that."
