Game Story: Red Sox lose again to Indians, 3-1

CLEVELAND -- The score was slightly more respectable for the Red Sox Tuesday night, but the outcome was strikingly familiar -- another loss.

Boston's brutal start continued with its fourth consecutive defeat, 3-1, to the Cleveland Indians, keeping pace with their nightmarish 1996 start (0-5).

Josh Beckett, the first Red Sox starter to not allow a home run this season, gave up three runs in five innings and the lineup provided little backing. Boston managed a second-inning run off Indians starter Josh Tomlin when Jarrod Saltalamacchia singled home David Ortiz. It was Saltalamacchia's first hit on the young season after beginning the year 0-for-10.
