OAKLAND, Calif. -- Like Daisuke Matsuzaka before him, John Lackey made a nice turnaround from two poor starts. Unlike Matsuzaka on Monday, Lackey didn't have the benefit of any run support.

Pitching for the first time since the Red Sox' home opener, Lackey allowed just one run on four hits over six innings. But his teammates were blanked by Brett Anderson (eight innings) and Craig Breslow and Brian Fuentes (combined one inning) for a 5-0 loss, snapping Boston's modest three-game winning streak.

The Sox are winless (0-7) away from home this season, the only team without a road victory.

The Red Sox have not scored a run in their last 20 innings and the road and have been shutout in consecutive road games for the first time since Aug. 7-8, 2009.

After a two-out single by Adrian Gonzalez in the first, the Red Sox didn't collect another hit until the eighth.

The A's manufactured a run in the first when Coco Crisp singled, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a groundout by David DeJesus. They added four insurance runs off the Boston bullpen in the eighth -- with a two-run double by Hideki Matsui as the key hit -- to put the game safely out of reach.
