John Lackey was scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, according to ESPN. The surgery was scheduled to be performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Southern California, and will result in Lackey sitting out the 2012 season.

Lackey, who is two years into a five-year, 82.5 million contract, finished the season 12-12 with an ERA of 6.41. General manager Ben Cherington announced in his introductory press conference that Lackey would have the season-ending surgery.
