Report: Sox abandon plan to shorten right field

WEEI.com's Rob Bradford, quoting a source familiar with the situation, reported Thursday that the Red Sox will not go forward with plans announced in the fall to expand their right-field bullpens, which would have reduced the distance from home plate to the fence by about nine feet.

The change would have needed approval from the Boston Landmarks Commission and the Massachusetts Historical Society. According to Bradford, the move "was met with some resistance from the Massachusetts Historical Society."
