Knocked from their perch atop the American League East Friday night for the first time in almost exactly a month, the Red Sox wasted no time in climbing back.
Behind six RBI from Jacoby Ellsbury, the Red Sox cranked out 11 hits and bashed the New York Yankees, 10-4, to reclaim a tie for first in the division. Boston is 9-2 against the Yankees, assuring themselves of no worse than a split in the season series between the two rivals.
The Sox beat CC Sabathia for the fourth time in four tries this season. While Sabathia, the league's winningest pitcher, has a 2.11 ERA against other teams, his ERA against the Sox is 7.50.
He lasted six innings before departing.
Ellsbury had a third-inning sacrifice fly, a three-run homer in the fourth and a two-run single in the eighth.
Dustin Pedroia, Mike Aviles and Marco Scutaro also provided run-scoring hits for the Sox, with Pedroia chipping in with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

John Lackey allowed three runs on six hits over six innings to post his fifth win in his last six starts.
After the Sox took a 2-0 leade in the third inning, the Yanks got two off Lackey in the fourth on a double play and a run-scoring double from Eric Chavez.
They added another run in the fifth on an RBI-single by Derek Jeter, then didn't score again until Mark Teixeira homered off Daniel Bard in the eighth.
