Sox deal Lars Anderson to Indians

BOSTON -- It won't register much -- if at all -- on the baseball trade Richter Scale, but the Red Sox did make another deal Tuesday in addition to acquiring Craig Breslow from Arizona.

Lars Anderson, the one-time phenom whose path to Boston washed out when the Sox picked up Adrian Gonzalez in late 2010, was traded to the Indians for an as-yet-unnamed minor-league pitcher.

Anderson spent most of this season -- indeed, most of the last several seasons -- in Pawtucket, with no chance of advancement as long as Gonzalez was at first base in the majors. He was almost traded to Oakland at last year's deadline, but the Sox backed out of a potential deal for Rich Harden after seeing the right-hander's medical records.
