Tradition honors Jacobs, Martinez, Parish, Harrison

Bruins principal owner Jeremy Jacobs will highlight the local sports legends honored by the TD Garden on June 27 at The Traditionthe annual summer celebration honoring distinguished New England athletes and industry leads at the home of the Bruins and Celtics.

Jacobs gets the nod for the Hockey Legacy Award after a long stewardship of the Boston Bruins franchise punctuated by last years Stanley Cup championship. The team plays its home games in the building owned and operated by his Delaware North Companies.

Jacobs will also accompany Bruins President Cam Neely for a season-ending press conference at TD Garden on Thursday afternoon to mark the official close of the season for the Black and Gold after last weeks playoff loss to the Washington Capitals.

This years Tradition Lifetime Achievement Award will go three-time Cy Young Award winner and 2004 World Series champion Pedro Martinez, who memorably returned to Boston in April for the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park.

Soccer Hall of Famer and founding member of the New England Revolution Alexei Lalas will also be honored. Chief Robert Parish, a key member of the Big Three that led the Boston Celtics to a 1980s basketball dynasty, will be given the Basketball Legacy Award. Title IX trailblazer and two-time Olympian Chris Ernst will be honored with the Special Achievement Award and former hard-hitting New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison will be given the Football Legacy Award.
