Bruins announce Zdeno Chara traveling back to Boston to be re-evaluated

The Boston Bruins announced Thursday evening that defenseman Zdeno Chara will be heading back to Boston for further evaluation, following his departure from Wednesday night's 6-3 loss in Colorado.

That means the Bruins' captain will at least miss Friday night's game in Dallas against the Stars, the second leg of a four-game road swing that will also include stops in Arizona and Detroit before returning home for their traditional post-Thanksgiving home matinee.

Chara left the first period with an apparent left knee injury after colliding with the Avalanche's Carl Soderberg -- but not before finishing the shift, which led to a Jake DeBrusk breakaway goal.
