Morning Skate: Barzal looks like a superstar

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while appreciating the lifetime of work for peace and equality espoused by Dr. Martin Luther King.

*New York Islanders rookie Mathew Barzal continues to look like an absolute superstar with another 5-point game for the Isles. He is making history after being passed over three straight times by the Bruins in the 2015 NHL Draft. Have I mentioned that before?

*Would many NHL veterans rather have some time off during NHL All-Star weekend, or would they rather be a part of the festivities?

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Frank Seravalli has the needs, wants and wishes of every team in the Eastern Conference with the trade deadline slowly coming into view.

*The Team USA NDTP showed off this season’s version of the Star Wars jersey, and I am not quite as blown away with the Darth Vader one this season as I have been in the past. I feel like I’ve kind of seen this one before with other minor league teams, and usually the USANDTP jerseys are pretty darn unique. Having said all that, I’ll probably still buy one.

*Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook’s value to the Hawks goes well beyond the $55 million contract that he signed prior to being a healthy scratch recently.

*A really moving piece from Sportsnet on former Bruins and Penguins star Kevin Stevens, and his battle with addiction.

*For something completely different: Don’t you dare tell me that I can’t eat raw cookie dough.
