Morning Skate: Tale of the tape with Marc Savard

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while glad I’ve already done my time at the Mall of America.

*Here’s something any Bruins fan will find entertaining: Marc Savard giving an instructional video tutorial on how to properly tape your sticks. If there’s one thing that Savard was always serious about during his playing days, it was his sticks.

*A good piece on the uniquely talented and Hall of Fame-bound Jaromir Jagr, who wanted to play forever. He certainly left an impression here in Boston during his brief stay with the Bruins.

*NHL All-Star weekend was also a great time for the US National Team Development Program, which is cranking out elite NHL hockey players.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Chris Johnston says that another side of Auston Matthews emerged at All-Star weekend. I appreciate what he’s doing here with the column, but this is also a bit of attempting to put a shine on a player that isn’t very charismatic. It just doesn’t feel like that’s going to be in the cards for a brilliant franchise player on hockey’s biggest stage in Toronto.

*An interesting exercise from Sports Illustrated where a column is written imagining that NHL players were indeed at next month’s Winter Olympics, and it turned out to be the US’s turn to shine.

*For something completely different: If there’s one Jerry Seinfeld story to read on the Internet today, this is probably it.
