Caron, Mottau scratched for Bruins

BOSTON -- As expected, Tim Thomas and Braden Holtby were the first goaltenders onto the ice for the Bruins and Capitals, respectively. It appears that Jordan Caron and Mike Mottau will be the healthy scratches for the Bruins to open things up, and the Capitals will scratch Mike Knuble, Cody Eakin and Dmitry Orlov while going with Jay Beagle after he skipped the morning skate.

Heres an interesting tidbit: in each of the previous two playoff series between the two teams, the winner of the series has advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals; the Bruins in 1990 when they were beaten by the Edmonton Oilers and the Capitals in 1998 when they lost to the Wings in Detroits second of back-to-back Cup championships.

Here is the projected Bruins lineup for tonight:

Lucic-Krejci-Peverley
Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Rolston-Kelly-Pouliot
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Seidenberg
Ference-Boychuk
Zanon-Corvo

Thomas
Khudobin
