Markelle Fultz trade between Celtics, 76ers takes another bad turn for Philly

Markelle Fultz forever will be connected to the rivalry between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.

Instead of taking Fultz with the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the C's traded it to the Sixers for the No. 3 pick (ultimately Jayson Tatum) and a future first rounder. Two years later, Tatum is on his way to being a star and Fultz has played just 33 games and now is dealing with another shoulder issue.

Here's the latest on Fultz, and it's not a positive update for the 76ers.

The Celtics have lost six of their last nine games and sit at 9-8 on the season. Tatum, however, is playing well. He's averaging 18.5 points on 49.5 percent shooting from the field, 45.2 percent from 3-point range and 6.2 rebounds per game over his last six contests.

The 76ers have a really good team and should be a top contender in the Eastern Conference for many years, but taking Fultz over Tatum and others in the 2017 draft could have been a colossal mistake. It certainly looks like that right now.
