Crawford's wrist ‘feels good so far'

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Carl Crawford took 15 swings off the tee in the batting cage Friday afternoon and plans to do the same again Saturday as he works his way back from wrist surgery.

"It feels good so far,'' said Crawford. "I get to swing, so I'm definitely excited about that.''

Crawford has also been taking balls in the outfield for the past few days and plans to progress and take swings against a pitching machine soon.

Manager Bobby Valentine mentioned Friday that Crawford might soon resume bunting drills, too, but Crawford sounded a bit reluctant to began those.

"I don't know if I'll be doing any (of those) right now,'' he said. "because that's what started this problem.''

His session in the cage was his first attempt at swinging with both hands since he first began experiencing soreness in the left wrist, resulting in a mandated "down'' period for him that lasted about 10 days.
