As the Red Sox prepare to mark the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park, they got some news to celebrate on Wednesday.
Fenway has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places, the nation's official listing of significant historical resources.
Listing Fenway Park in the National Register will help preserve this exceptional place for future generations to enjoy, and recognizes its 100th anniversary this year, said Massachusetts Secretary of State William F. Galvin, who oversees the Massachusetts Historical Commission, in a statement.

That statement added that any changes to the ballpark from here on in are subject to a review by the Massachusetts Historical Commission.
The Sox will also receive 40 million in federal tax credits because of the listing.
The team applied for the listing in December 2011.
