Two-round NFL Mock Draft 3.0: D-line depth and versatile WR to Patriots
Two-round mock draft 3.0: D-line depth and versatile WR to Patriots
By Phil Perry
Last week we mocked a blockbuster trade that sent a new club skyrocketing to the top of the draft in order to get the quarterback it wanted. We just screwed up the teams involved.
The Rams trade to the No. 1 overall choice -- the one that landed the Titans an apocalyptic bunker's worth of draft-pick ammunition -- will shake up the rest of the first round and second rounds. That means the players available to the Patriots at No. 60 and 61 will be affected as well.
Here's how our mock draft 3.0 broke down: With their first second-round pick, the Patriots continue their trend of adding to the defensive line early in drafts. With a supremely talented defensive line crop in this year's class, a talented player falls to the bottom of the second round and helps build up the team's depth at that spot after releasing both Dominique Easley and Chris Jones. At No. 61, a versatile pass-catcher lands in their lap to prepare them for the future at the receiver position.
