Hornets' Gordon (knee) out for Celtics game

NEW ORLEANSThe Boston Celtics have been hit pretty hard already with the injury bug.

But on Wednesday, the C's finally caught a break with the news that Hornets guard Eric Gordon (knee) would not play.

In the Hornet's 85-84 season-opening win over Phoenix, Gordon had 20 points which included the game-winner. Last season with the Los Angeles Clippers, Gordon averaged a career-high 22.3 points per game.

"He's a great player. He's their key guy," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers. "He single-handedly won the Phoenix game if you watched it. But they have other guys."

One of those guys is Jarrett Jack, who returns to the Hornets lineup after serving a one-game suspension after a DUI arrest in February.

Having him back will certainly help the Hornets make up for not having Gordon.

"Jack's our leader," said New Orleans coach Monty Williams. "He's a guy who can score as well.
