Kelly: No excuses for Bruins

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- It's the dog days of the hockey season, but Chris Kelly doesn't want to hear it.
The veteran center says complaints about the schedule or fatigue should fall on deaf ears. Its about effort, plain and simple, and that's what's been missing from the Bruins' game during their recent 4-4-1 stretch.
Back-to-back games . . . road trips . . . if were even thinking of using that as an excuse, we need to get that right out of our minds," said the veteran forward. "Were not doing the basic things that have made us a good hockey team.
We have a lot of talent in this room, but so do a lot of other teams. What separated this team from a lot of above-average teams and below-average teams was our work ethic. We outworked other teams and focused on smaller details, and then those things would allow our talent to take over.
"I think were getting away from that. Youre not going to expect us to put 82 perfect games together, and I dont think were expecting to do that, either. But I think what they do expect us to do is to compete every night and show up to win. The fact that were not doing that is the concerning part.
