Light leaves stadium with foot in boot

FOXBORO- Matt Light left Gillette Stadium with his right foot in an immobilizing boot. The Patriots' left tackle was rolled up on from behind as he trailed a fourth-quarter reception by Wes Welker. It was an apparent ankle injury. Light was seen after the game smiling, but he waved off requests to speak. Given the fact that it appeared the veteran left tackle may have blown a knee ligament on the play, an ankle sprain would be a relative boon. After Light went down, rookie Nate Solder went to left tackle. Fellow rookie Marcus Cannon took the late-game reps at right tackle. Sebastian Vollmer was in at right tackle before Cannon came in. I asked Solder if he'd be comfortable manning the left side if Light is lost. He smiled and replied, "I'm always ready for whatever happens. I don't know what that's gonna be but I'm always ready to play where they need me."Vollmer took the same direction, saying,"Whatever happens. Right side or left, I've played both it doesn't really matter to me. I just hope he's coming back but if not, I'm sure everybody's ready to step up and go to whatever position we need to be."
