Brendan Shanahan, the NHL's chief of discipline, announced via Twitter Thursday afternoon that Brad Marchand would not be suspended for his hit on Alexei Emelin in the Bruins' 4-3 shootout victory over the Canadiens Wednesday night.
"Like all penalties on the ice, not all 'clips' rise to the level of supplemental discipline," said Shanahan. "This check by Marchand was delivered to the upper thighhip and not the knee area. We don't like it, but there will be no supplemental discipline."
Earlier Thursday, Bruins coach Claude Julien said he didn't think Marchand deserved a suspension.

My eyes saw Marchands butt hit the other guys butt," said Julien. "Clipping and a suspension is going after a guys knees. Thats the way I saw it and Im hoping the league sees it the same way."
