Breer: Hightower's deal says Patriots have concerns about his health

According to a report from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the New York Jets became concerned about medical issues they discovered after giving Dont’a Hightower a physical.

On Sports Sunday, Albert Breer explained why Hightower’s new deal with the Patriots speaks volumes about their own concerns with the linebacker’s health.

“If you look at the Patriots contract, they’re telling you the exact same thing,” explained Breer. “The per-game roster bonuses in his deal are larger than any other player on the roster. That includes Rob Gronkowski. That includes Tom Brady - who is going to be playing into his 40s on that contract. That includes Julian Edelman. On top of that, there are incentives that also will be based on health play time, Pro Bowl, All-Pro.

“The Jets’ concerns, the Patriots share those concerns. It’s right there in the contract.”
