Cardinals reportedly sign DJ Foster off of Patriots practice squad

FOXBORO -- By the time the Patriots had to cut down their roster to 53 players, it appeared as though the back-end of their roster wasn't as loaded with NFL talent as many assumed it would be when training camp opened.

Apparently the rest of the league didn't feel that way.

Not long after the Patriots had a league-high four of their final roster cuts claimed off of waivers by other clubs, the Cardinals signed running back DJ Foster off of the Patriots practice squad and onto their active roster. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported the transaction as the Cardinals await news on the health of starting running back David Johnson's wrist.

Foster joins Kenny Moore (Colts), Austin Carr (Saints), Conor McDermott (Bills) and James O'Shaughnessy (Jaguars) as players who hung with the Patriots for training camp and have since been scooped up by other teams.

Foster played three games for the Patriots last season, rushing seven times for 24 yards and catching one pass for two yards. His new gig in Arizona is a homecoming of sorts as he played his college football at Arizona State.
