FOXBORO -- If the Patriots had practiced on Monday, both Dont'a Hightower and Jimmy Garoppolo would have been listed as non-participants due to their injuries.
The Patriots did not practice on Monday, but because they play the Texans on Thursday night and are required to release three injury reports during game weeks, they published one on Monday evening.
Hightower (knee), Garoppolo (shoulder) and corner Eric Rowe (ankle) were all listed with the "did not participate" description. Guard Jonathan Cooper (foot), defensive lineman Trey Flowers (shoulder) and tight end Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) were all mentioned as "limited" participants.
Again, Monday's injury report was simply an estimation of what injured players could have done had the team practiced. It was interesting to note, however, that several Patriots on last week's report were not listed. Malcolm Butler (limited with an ankle injury last week), Marcus Cannon (knee), Chris Hogan (shoulder), Shaq Mason (hand), Shea McClellin (shoulder) and Nate Solder (hamstring) did not appear on Monday's report.
Houston conducted a walkthrough on Monday and its injury report was also an estimation of players' participation levels had there been a practice.
Tackle Duane Brown (knee), linebacker Brian Cushing (knee) and receiver Braxton Miller (hamstring) were listed as non-participants. Quarterback Brock Osweiler (back) was listed as a full participant. Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (foot), corner Kevin Johnson (thumb) and defensive lineman JJ Watt (back) were among the nine Texans listed as "limited."
