Edelman checks in at No. 87 on NFL's Top 100, thinks he's Batman

Julian Edelman missed the final seven games of last season due to a broken foot, but he was still able to break into the NFL's Top 100 player list that is in the process of being revealed.

NFL Network has listed players No. 100 down to No. 81 as of Wednesday night, and Edelman checked in at No. 87. The player ranked one spot ahead of Edelman was Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart at No. 86. Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward came in one spot behind Edelman at No. 88. Players are ranked by their peers for the list.

Despite his injury, Edelman was still able to climb four spots from his 2015 ranking of No. 91.

"He took over Wes Welker's role," said Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats. "Wes Welker was the guy they would have inside doing what they called the whip routes, where they run right at you, and wherever your leverage is, they're running opposite of that.

"That's what he loves to do. You sit outside? He's bursting in. And if you're sitting inside, he's bursting out. He may have seven or eight catches and all of them are in that five or 10-yard range."

As part of the Edelman montage used by NFL Network during its most recent Top 100 episode, there are a handful of mic'd up segments with the receiver either talking to teammates on the sidelines or talking to opponents on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

At one point, viewers get a quick look at the Edelman's sometimes goofy game-day nature, getting into Patriots receiver Danny Amendola's face and saying, "I'm Batman."
