Gregory still day-to-day

FOXBORO -- Patriots safety Steve Gregory caught up with reporters Tuesday. It was the first time he's been available since suffering a hip injury Week 4, which could be a positive sign of progress.
"I'm just going day-to-day, doing what the trainers ask of me. Trying to get better. That's pretty much it," he said.
However obvious it may be, Gregory couldn't help but admit he hates being sidelined.
"You never want to be hurt and not playing. As a competitor you want to be in there helping your team. The only thing I can focus on right now is getting healthy."
In the meantime he's staying involved by going to meetings, breaking down film, and constantly communicating with his teammates.
"I can't wait to play," he said in a burst of enthusiasm.
The Patriots have to feel the same.
When safety Patrick Chung left Sunday night's game against Seattle, the team was left with two rookies -- Tavon Wilson and Nate Ebner -- as its last line of defense. As if to confirm New England's greatest fears, the Seahawks won the game on a sprawling 46-yard touchdown reception with 1:18 left to play.
But Gregory isn't taking the pressure personally. He can't.
"You can't rush back because then you'll just give yourself a setback," he said. "I want to make sure I'm 100 percent healthy before I return."
