The Patriots announced on Friday night that tight end Rob Gronkowski was ruled out for Sunday's season-opener with the Cardinals. Left tackle Nate Solder and guard Jonathan Cooper were also ruled out by the team.

Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal was the first to report that all three players were kept off of the team flight to Arizona. Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran confirmed that the trio did not travel and would not play.

The Patriots have five other players listed as questionable for Sunday night's matchup, including two other pass catchers, Malcolm Mitchell (elbow) and Chris Hogan (shoulder). Guard Shaq Mason (hand), defensive end Trey Flowers (shoulder) and linebacker Shea McClellin (shoulder) have been limited in practice this week as well and their availability on Sunday is uncertain.
