Harrison, Tyree relationship got bitter

If you're like me, you're all set with the ins-and-outs of David Tyree's helmet catch in Super Bowl 42. It's been broken down in Zapruder-esque fashion and anointed the greatest catch in Super Bowl history even though an argument could be made that three other plays on that final Giants' drive were just as important. (Failed fourth-and-1 stop, Asante Samuel's missed pick, Steve Smith's first-down reception on third-and-12 that set up the Plaxico Burress touchdown). The Boston Globe's Bob Hohler gave us something Sunday that advanced the catch - or at least its aftermath - a little bit. Remember how Rodney Harrison agreed to write the foreword for Tyree's strike-while-I'm-hot book in the wake of the Giants' stunning Super Bowl win? Yeah, that fell apart. Harrison told Hohler that Tyree's intimations that God favored the Giants were irksome. Tyree got hurt by Harrison saying the catch was lucky. He started walking around like he was an all-star, Harrisontold Hohler. It was like, Dude, lets be honest, thats never happened. You were 2 inches away from being really irrelevant. Added Harrison, He was a guy we didnt prepare for. He was a special teams guy who came in and played a great game in the biggest game of his life. That happens. You see guys who are basically irrelevant their entire career make one lucky catch or one big interception and they become relevant all of a sudden. The God thing?

As much as Tyree wants to say he was the hero, they still had to get in the end zone, Harrison told Hohler. So, did God show more favor to Plaxico Burress than Ellis Hobbs? Its still about guys on the field having to make plays.Said Tyree, Its disappointing when I hear him talk about luck like that, especially when we have the same beliefs and values. Obviously, I didnt have the career he had, but I wouldnt call any of his body of work luck.
