Jets coach Todd Bowles was admitted to a hospital Friday afternoon with an undisclosed illness and did not travel with the team to New England, the team announced. The Jets play the Patriots Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.

Bowles is in stable condition and it’s unclear if he’ll be able to join the team for the game in Foxboro. If he is unavailable, assistant head coach Mike Caldwell will serve as head coach.

Manish Mehta, who covers the Jets for the New York Daily News, tweeted the following:

The Jets are 4-10 and Bowles, whose job status has been the subject of speculation in a disappointing season, is 16-17 overall after a 10-6 season in 2015 in his first season as an NFL head coach.
