Jets player reacts to Brady news: ‘They could go 2-2 or even 1-3'

No surprise here: You can count the Jets among those Patriots rivals who are happy about the possibility of Tom Brady missing four games.

When news broke earlier this week that the Second Circuit had denied Brady's petition for a rehearing of his case against the NFL, Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman checked in with a Jets player who spoke of Brady's impending ban "like a party is coming."

"With Tom gone those first four games," the anonymous player told Freeman, "they could go 2-2 or even 1-3. It's a good opportunity for us."

Maybe so, but as Freeman points out, that could be wishful thinking. With three games at home, and a formidable defense that ranked in the top-10 in yards and points allowed last season, Bill Belichick's club could conceivably come away from Brady's suspension with a winning record.

Still, that won't keep Patriots opponents from sharing their excitement at the prospect of Brady missing time. Arizona's Calais Campbell said he's "licking [his] chops" to face Jimmy Garoppolo. The Bills, soon after the Second Circuit's decision went public, did a brief victory lap on Twitter

The Patriots are scheduled to face the Cardinals in Week 1 and the Bills in Week 4. The Jets and Patriots won't square off until Week 12 so if they hope to take advantage of Brady's time off, they'll have to depend on others for a little help.
