Manning ruled out for Week 1

Peyton Manning has been officially ruled out for the Colts' season opener against the Houston Texans.

Colts' vice chairman Bill Polian confirmed the decision in an interview with ESPN Radio on Wednesday. Manning's streak of starts ends at 208 regular season games and 19 playoff games. He has started every non-preseason game Indianapolis has played since the beginning of 1998.

From ProFootballTalk:

The Colts will be a completely different team without Manning, and after nine straight years in the playoffs with Manning at the helm, it's hard to see them even being competitive without him.
