Mitchell returns to practice; McClellin, Ebner still missing

FOXBORO -- In a week that has been about the receiver that the Patriots lost, they got one back at practice on Tuesday.

Malcolm Mitchell was on the field and working out with teammates for the first time since preseason game No. 2 in Houston two weeks ago. He appeared to tweak his knee in that game and did not practice the following week or play against the Lions. His availability could be key as the team attempts to cope with the loss of Julian Edelman. The Patriots also got receiver and special-teams ace Matthew Slater back on the practice field on Monday after an extended absence.

Missing from the practice field on Tuesday were Shea McClellin, Nate Ebner, Harvey Langi and Tony Garcia. Deatrich Wise left for the upper practice field after warmups as he continues to work his way back from a concussion.

The Patriots had a new linebacker in the fold wearing No. 59. The presumption is that was Marquis Flowers, who the Patriots reportedly acquired in a trade with the Bengals

There were a couple of notable guests at Tuesday's workout from the Bruins: goalie Tuukka Rask and defenseman Kevan Miller.
