Patriots-Seahawks inactives: Dion Lewis out, Chris Hogan in

FOXBORO -- Dion Lewis won't make his season debut against the Seahawks after all. He has been made inactive for the Sunday night matchup at Gillette Stadium.

Lewis was activated to the 53-man roster off of the PUP list on Saturday afternoon, but the team has opted to hold him back and keep him off of the 46-man game day roster as it returns to action off of its bye week. What's this mean for the Patriots? Plenty of action for James White, who will retain the primary duties as the team's sub back.

The Patriots also decided to keep newly-acquired linebacker Kyle Van Noy off the field in their first game since trading linebacker Jamie Collins to the Browns. That should mean Elandon Roberts and Barkevious Mingo could see the majority of the work alongside Hightower in Collins' absence. Shea McClellin and Rob Ninkovich may also see some time as off-the-ball linebackers.

Another eyebrow-raising inclusion on the inactive list was corner Eric Rowe, who had started each of New England's last two games as its No. 2 cornerback behind Malcolm Butler. In his place, the Patriots have activated rookie corner Cyrus Jones for the first time since he was ejected from their Week 5 win over the Browns.

Patriots wideout Chris Hogan, who missed Friday's practice with a back injury, went through an extensive workout before kickoff and has been deemed good enough to be in uniform.

Other Patriots inactives include running back DJ Foster, tackle LaAdrian Waddle, defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton and tight end Matt Lengel, who was signed off the Bengals practice squad during the team's bye week.
