Brady pregame speech at Michigan ‘made the hair on the back of your neck stand up'

Tom Brady's keeping busy during his four-game suspension. He's working out, of course. He's selling Uggs. He's hanging out with his family, and he's watching football.

He also took some time out over the weekend to visit his alma mater and serve as an honarary captain for Michigan before its game with Colorado.

As part of the visit, he hit Wolverines players with a pregame speech that sounds like it was straight out of a movie.

According to this piece by Kevin Van Valkenburg, Brady didn't want any cameras in the room while he spoke. He wanted to be able to speak freely about tradition and the history of the program he helped lead in the late 1990s.

"It was a chilling speech," said offensive lineman Ryan Glasgow. "It made the hair on the back of your neck stand up."

"It made me realize maybe the greatest quarterback of all time was saying that I represent him," said quarterback Wilton Speight. "That got me in the mindset that I wanted to go out and play even better than he ever did."

Of course, the room "erupted," per Van Valkenburg.

The piece is an entertaining read and certainly worth your time if you're a Patriots fan or at all interested in how Brady handles himself away from Gillette Stadium. It includes a quote from one Brady friend who thinks the quarterback can solve Arab-Israeli relations, an anecdote about which sport Brady's son Jack wants to play when he grows up (it's not football), and his dinner order at one of his old Ann Arbor haunts.
