Patriots at the bye week

Tom E. Curran and Mike Giardi sat down to talk about what the Patriots need to do during their bye week to help them continue further into the season.

"I think with the New England Patriots right now, you have to establish if there is an Achilles heel present." said Curran, "I think the Achilles heel that existed last year is that they were one-dimensional offensively, and you found that in the postseason when the Jets overwhelmed them along the offensive line. The Patriots didn't have an answer in the running game. I think the Patriots have addressed that Achilles heel."

Curran then identified a new potential problem for the 2011 Patriots that might hold them back from becoming a strong team going into the second half of the season.

"All it takes is one team with one good scheme and a couple mistakes and then everything blows up in your face," said Curran, "The Patriots have been more mistake-prone in 2011 than they were in 2010. That to me is a little bit of a concern, especially from the offense."
