The Patriots announced today that DL Mike Wright has been placed on injured reserve (concussion). Defensive back Phillip Adams has been signed to the 53-man roster.

Mike did everything he could to return and contribute to the team," Bill Belichick said Thursday. "Unfortunately, we felt the best course of action was to place him on injured reserve at this time.

Wright, 6-4, 295 pounds, played in the season opener at Miami (912) and had one tackle and a half a sack but was inactive for the last four games. He returned to practice briefly last week but wasn't cleared to play against the Jets.

Wright, who originally joined the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Cincinnati in 2005, has 174 total tackles and 15.0 sacks in his 81 games with the Patriots.

Adams, 5-11, 192 pounds, was originally signed by the Patriots on Sept. 21 and was active but did not play in the games at Buffalo on Sept. 25 and at Oakland on Oct. 2 before being released on Oct. 8.
