Patriots safety Patrick Chung takes the ice at Bruins practice: ‘These guys are flying'

For football players at any level, you generally want to avoid being "put on skates." Patrick Chung, however, welcomed the opportunity with open arms on Friday.

The Patriots safety got fully suited up at the latest Bruins practice -- skates, helmet, shoulder pads, gloves . . . the works -- and worked up a good sweat gliding up and down the ice with interim coach Bruce Cassidy's club.

The Bruins were down a couple of players at what appeared to be an optional skate (Zdeno Chara and David Krejci were among the missing), but Chung was happy to step in and get some shots off.

"Out here with the Bruins," Chung said via the Patriots Snapchat account. "This is a real game. This is a man's game. Ain't no messing around here. These guys are flying. Had a good time, though."

When it was over, Chung signed the black and gold jersey of at least one fan. He then became a fan himself, collecting autographs of Bruins players on a Bruins No. 23 jersey with his last name stitched on the back.

And here's some Instagram video from our own CSN Bruins Insider Joe Haggerty of Chung :
