Former Patriots' running back Laurence Maroney was acquitted of a misdemeanor charge of marijuana position.
Maroney was arrested in January on weapons charges. When the weapon charges were dropped, he was charged with possession of marijuana for the same incident.

Now that the marijuana charge is behind him, Maroney's attorney says Maroney is eager to get back to the NFL and already has workouts planned with two teams. At age 26, Maroney still has time to get his career back on track. But considering that Maroney had just 36 carries for 74 yards last season, off-field trouble isn't the only reason he's currently out of work.
The Patriots traded Maroney, a former first-round pick, to the Broncos last season. The team gave up the running back and a sixth-round pick for a fourth-round pick, both in the 2011 draft. The Patriots then traded that fourth-round pick to the Seahawks for Deion Branch.
