Report: Gaffney to work out for Dolphins

Hard to say if this says more about the talent the Patriots had at wide receiver during training camp or the lack thereof currently in Miami.

The Dolphins will work out former Patriots wideout Jabar Gaffney today, according to multiple reports. The tryout comes on the heels of the Dolphins working out Pats castaway Donte' Stallworth last week.

Both Gaffney and Stallworth were released by New England in the first round of cuts this preseason, when the Patriots roster was trimmed from 90 players to 75.

If Gaffney were to make the Dolphins, he would very likely be their No. 1 receiver from the get-go. Miami has a talented slot receiver in Davone Bess, but after jettisoning the underwhelming Chad Johnson, they've been left with really no outside-the-numbers threat. Gaffney suffered a lower body injury during camp with the Patriots, but if he's healthy, he could be their best option there.

Last year, Gaffney had the most productive season of his career catching 68 passes for 947 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Redskins.
