Report: Martellus Bennett drawing interest from AFC teams

The New England Patriots are still interested in signing tight end Martelleus Bennett to a new contract, according to The Boston Globe's Ben Volin. But they'll have some competition. Volin also reports the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders are interested in hiring the 29-year-old.

Bennett's contract with New England expires at the start of the 2017 season on March 7. He joined New England by trade during the 2016 offseaon at which point he turned down an offer from the Patriots that came in at $7 million per year, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Bennett finished the 2016 season with 55 receptions for 701 yards and seven touchdown receptions. In Super Bowl LI, he had five receptions for 62 yards.

While Bennett has said he's interested in returning to the Patriots, he has also expressed on Twitter his disinterest in taking a discount to stay.
